Leadership Transition

After over 18 years at Shippensburg University, Dr. Claire Jantz is starting a new adventure at the Department of Conservation of Natural Resources, where she will be serving as Deputy Secretary of Conservation and Technical Services. She has led the CLUS since 2015 and oversaw the development and implementation of nearly 50 different grants and contracts, amounting to $2.7 million. Every project at the CLUS involves student fellows – one of the most rewarding aspects of the applied science work.

Dr. Russ Hedberg is taking over as the Director of the CLUS. An associate professor in the Geography-Earth Science Department, Russ has been an engaged affiliate scholar since he joined the faculty in 2018. Russ is a broadly trained geographer with interests and skill sets that made him the top choice to take over as the next director of the CLUS. His research interests are sustainable food systems, the renewable energy transition, and environmental justice and he looks forward to leading the next chapter of the CLUS.
