Leadership Transition
After over 18 years at Shippensburg University, Dr. Claire Jantz started a new adventure at the Department of Conservation of Natural Resources where she is serving as Deputy Secretary of Conservation and Technical Services. She led the CLUS since 2015 and oversaw the development and implementation of nearly 50 different grants and contracts, amounting to $2.7 million. Every project at the CLUS involves student fellows – one of the most rewarding aspects of the applied science work.
Dr. Russ Hedberg, associate professor in the Geography-Earth Science Department and engaged affiliate scholar since joining the faculty in 2018, acted as Interim Director of the CLUS for the spring 2024 semester. Russ’s research interests of sustainable food systems, renewable energy transition, and environmental justice along with his broad training, skills, and interests are keeping him involved with several of the CLUS’s existing projects. He is helping to bridge the gap into the next phase of CLUS’s leadership. Watch for exciting new developments to follow!
